Colleen Ann Schmidt of Hampton Bays died peacefully on June 4 at the Kanas Center for Hospice Care on Quiogue. She was 68.
Born in Worcester, Massachusetts, on January 12, 1954, Schmidt attended Doherty Memorial High School, then went on to the University of Massachusetts Amherst, where she received her Bachelor of Science degree in fashion marketing.
She pursued a career in the apparel industry as a merchandiser, sourcing fabrics, manufacturers and fashion trends, traveling to Europe and the Far East over her career.
Schmidt loved life in general, and her family in particular, her family said.
She is survived by her husband of 31 years “F.J.” and her close cousin Rosemary Hilland, her husband Mike Sandusky and his son Nathan.
The family has asked that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to East End Hospice, and in particular, the Kanas Center for Hospice Care.
